Many people delight in finding and knowing what their gift is but how many of us allow the gift to develop into all it can be? Talents are a gift from God. How we use the gift is up to us. Even with our gifts, it seems there are always obstacles to overcome. Obstacles are an everyday part of life and one of the biggest obstacles is fear.
We can be afraid of so many things as it relates to our gifts. The fear of failure. The fear of success. The fear of judgement. The fear of rejection and so on. If you want to amplify your fears, believe them to be true. Believe in your gift. The more you believe in your gift, the more fear will mount up as an obstacle to be slayed.
Truth is, most of our fears are blown so far out of proportion, they are actually distorted versions of the truth. What you think could be the worst outcome thought of, is often the figments of the imagination run a muck. Imagination is beautiful to behold when used properly. Keeping the boogie -man of fear away could be as simple as recognizing the culprit when near.
Fear will always be a part of your dream. Your desire to grow and use your gifts is laced with fears. Some fear is healthy and is used for protecting us as there are so many unknowns. There are more questions than answers it seems. But what if we already knew we would meet fear along the way? Maybe then we could greet fear with a smile and say, ‘Hey I know you.’ You are the indicator that I am growing my gifts.
So when you see fear approach as it relates to if you should continue to pursue your God given gifts, remember fear can be used as an ally and not a foe. It’s up to you to use fear as an aide to grow and not a hindrance or decision to stop.
